The first case of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever was registered in the Kyzylorda region this year. The most dangerous disease was revealed, confirmed by laboratory, in a pensioner, Kazpravda.kz correspondent reports .
Crimean Congo fever is an acute infectious disease that can lead to serious consequences. It is transmitted by ixodid ticks. The disease is characterized by seasonality - from April to the end of October, which is associated with the period of insect activity. More often, CCHF affects agricultural workers, slaughterers, tourists - lovers of "may days" in nature. The incubation period of the disease lasts from two to 14 days, with an average of 4-6 days.
Since the beginning of the epidemic season, 394 people sought medical help for tick bites in the Kyzylorda region, 15 were hospitalized with suspected CCHF, their diagnosis was not confirmed. But this time, the patient of the infectious disease specialists was a 61-year-old woman, a resident of the Syrdarya district of the region.
“She went to the doctors with complaints of high fever, weakness, vomiting. According to the woman, two days earlier she was bitten by a tick, which she herself removed from the skin. She also treated the wound on her own, and immediately after the bite she did not seek medical help "Only after the first clinical signs of the disease appeared, she went to the doctor. The patient was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the regional infectious diseases hospital. She was prescribed treatment according to the medical protocol," said Aliya Abdikaimova, deputy head of the regional department of sanitary and epidemiological control.
Now the citizen with CCHF is not in danger, she is in a medical facility and, according to doctors, the treatment helps her. In her home environment, doctors identified 9 contact persons, medical observation showed that these people are healthy, they do not have CCHF.
It should be noted that last year 20 cases of this most dangerous disease were registered in the Aral Sea region at once: 5 in the Syrdarya region, 4 each in the Zhalagash and Shieli regions, 3 in the Zhanakorgan region of the region and in Kyzylorda itself, 1 in the Karmakshy region of the Kyzylorda region. True, there were no cases of death of citizens, although the mortality rate for such a disease is usually high, local doctors have long mastered the methods for detecting and treating CCHF.
By the way, in the Kyzylorda region this year, the number of settlements that are unfavorable for Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever has decreased, despite the fact that the Aral region is located in the natural focus of CCHF, and there is a huge habitat of those types of ticks that carry this infection.
The regional department of sanitary and epidemiological control reported that today 106 settlements of the region are considered unfavorable for Crimean-Congo fever, according to the prevalence of insects that transmit it. This is 10 villages less than last year.
"Every year in the spring and autumn epidemiological seasons, a special zoological and parasitological group is created, which conducts a study of the general epizootological situation," Abdikaimova said.
At the same time, the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service reports that in 45 percent of cases people become infected after a tick bite, there have also been cases of infection while caring for ticked livestock, when farm animals are slaughtered (livestock after tick bites become a “transit” of fever), while caring for already sick people .
