The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to solve the problem of shortage or low quality of purchased personal protective equipment during a meeting on measures to counter coronavirus infection, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Head of State.

"At the same time, there is a shortage of both medicines and medical devices, equipment. On average, intensive care units are equipped by only 64% of the required standards. We may face an overburden of the healthcare system. I instruct the Government and regional akims to take measures to equip the intensive care units and fix the personal responsibility of chief doctors and deputy akims," the President said.

According to him, in some regions there is a shortage or low quality of purchased personal protective equipment.

"We have changed the management of SK- Pharmacy. Right now the moment has come, which will show the capabilities of the new management. Otherwise, they will be dismissed. I instruct the Ministry of Health to ensure strict control over the quality and sufficient volumes of personal protective equipment for doctors," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev added.
