At the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the COVID-19 pandemic gave an impetus to the development of certain economy sectors, Kazpravda.kz correspondent reports.
“Measures to combat the pandemic interrupted the processes of globalization, changed the structure of the world economic order. The situation is complicated by trade-economic conflicts between the major world economies, so the world community is faced with more complex challenges and tasks. The pandemic has exposed vulnerabilities of healthcare systems and economies at the global and national levels, "Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
The President of Kazakhstan noted that at the same time, the pandemic gave impetus to the intensive development of certain sectors of the economy: pharmaceutical industry, medical services, bioengineering and digital technologies.
“In these conditions, we must find an effective solution to the most pressing issue - overcoming the consequences of the economic crisis and taking the path of economic recovery," the President noted.
