One repeated case of coronavirus infection was recorded in West Kazakhstan region, Zakon.kz reports.
"Re-infection was registered only once. This person fell ill at the very beginning of the pandemic, then in the summer," Gulnar Abdrakhmanova, deputy head of the WKO Health Department, told a briefing.
It is worth noting that as of October 15, 2020, 5 cases of re-infection with coronavirus were officially registered in the world.
The reputable medical journal The Lancet published the results of the study that said infection with SARS-CoV-2 and previous illness COVID-19 may not guarantee full immunity.
Therefore, the researchers recommend, regardless of the previously obtained test results for coronavirus, taking precautions to prevent infection - primary or re-infection.
According to Mark Pandori, laboratory assistant for Public Health at the University of Nevada and lead author of the study, they still do not know much about the effects of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the response of the immune system, but the information they received suggests that the previous COVID-19 disease does not necessarily provide protection against re-infection.
