The Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about the growth of maternal mortality in Kazakhstan at an expanded meeting of the Government, Kazpravda.kz reports.
"Development of healthcare system. It passed a tough test of strength during the pandemic. All systemic problems of the industry were highlighted. At the same time, other medical services suffered, which immediately affected the health of the population.
Over the past year, we lost 156 mothers - an increase in mortality by 2.8 times. These are not just dry statistics; these are irreplaceable losses for 156 families.
I instruct the Government, together with regional akims and professional community, to conduct an inventory of all healthcare organizations.
It is important to pay attention to the facts of the lack of drugs and devices, which, according to the law, should be issued to certain categories of citizens free of charge. Often in medical institutions they say they do not have them, and people, including those from low-income groups, have to buy them at their own expense," the Head of State said.
