In two months in Kazakhstan less than 0.1% of the population was vaccinated. In this regard, the Government must reverse the COVID-19 situation during April, Kazpravda.kz quotes President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as saying.

"At the meeting on coronavirus countermeasures I said: the only reliable solution in the fight against coronavirus is vaccination. Less than 0.1% of the population has been vaccinated in Kazakhstan in two months! The government should reverse the situation during April by ensuring supplies from abroad and own production of vaccines. I urge all citizens to take the vaccine as soon as possible. This is taking care of yourself, your elders and loved ones, "the President wrote on Twitter.

He stressed that the experience of China, Israel and the UAE shows that only a well-thought-out vaccination strategy and exit from lockdowns can ensure the resumption of ordinary life for citizens and of activities in all sectors of the economy, including those sensitive to the pandemic.

"Restrictions and inspections of business in a pandemic should be transparent. Systemic, persistent violators of the regime should be penalized.

The government, in cooperation with the Parliament, should work out the following temporary measures: 1. Introduce a deferral for the payment of certain taxes and payments for SMEs in the affected industries. 2. Suspension of compulsory collection of tax and customs debts," Tokayev noted.

According to the President, there is a threat of overloading the healthcare system.

"The government and akims must urgently take measures to equip the intensive care units and secure the personal responsibility of chief doctors and deputy akims. The Ministry of Health and the management of SK-Pharmacia should ensure strict control over the quality and sufficient amounts of personal protective equipment for physicians," the President concluded.
