The third phase of clinical trials of Kazakhstan vaccine QazCovid-in will be completed in July this year, Kazpravda.kz correspondent quotes the director general of the Scientific Research Institute of Biological Safety Problems, Kunsulu Zakarya, as saying at the CCS briefing.

"The exact date for the completion of the third phase of clinical trials is July 9, 2021. After that, there is a lot of work to process the data received from 3 000 volunteers, which will take about 20 calendar days. After that, our report will be provided in full according to certain rules and regulations of the Ministry of Healthcare for consideration, "Zakarya said.

Asked whether the information that at the end of April the population will receive Kazakhstan vaccine is true, she answered:

"This information is absolutely true, since the vaccine is subject to use after 50% of the third phase of clinical trials. In many countries, as you know, the vaccine which has passed only the first phase or the first and second phases is rolled out. Kazakhstan adds another half of the third phase of research. The situation with other types of vaccines in the world is known to you. The production of some vaccines is now simply stopped. The mortality statistics are also known. In order to prevent such situations, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Health has adopted the right decision in order to more fully study the effect of our vaccine in the third phase of clinical trials, "the speaker summed up.

Kunsulu Zakarya noted that Kazakhstanis will receive the QazCovid-in vaccine in late April and mass vaccination will begin. The studies are scheduled to be completed by July 9.

According to her, the cost of 1 dose of the vaccine is $ 4.7. As noted by the developers, this is the cost of the vaccine without any extra charge.
