In Japan, the use of the Moderna vaccine was suspended due to the detection of impurities, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to Tass.ru.
The vaccines against the coronavirus of the American company Moderna, in which unknown impurities were found after delivery to Japan, were produced in Spain.
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan announced the suspension of the use of about 1.63 million Moderna vaccines, and also began an audit in connection with the incident, Kyodo reported.
It is noted that the particle size of the impurity is several millimeters. These drugs were in vaccination centers in five Japanese prefectures, including Tokyo.
In Japan, in addition to Moderna, the following vaccines are used: the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca and the American-German consortium of Pfizer and BioNTech companies. At the moment, 68.1 million people (53.6% of the population) received the first dose of the vaccine, and 54.1 (42.6%) received two doses.
