The head of government was shown a modern complex "Gamma Knife" made in Sweden. Kazakhstan has become the third country in the CIS and the first in Central Asia to have such high-tech equipment. In total, there are about 400 Gamma Knife installations in the world, half of which are located in the USA and Japan.

"Gamma Knife" is a radio-surgical unit for treatment of tumors, vascular and functional diseases of the brain. Today "Gamma Knife" is the "gold standard" of radio-surgical treatment.

Kazakhstanis will be able to receive such treatment free of charge under a quota. Previously, patients had to be sent abroad for expensive treatment. The Gamma Knife in the Central Asian region at the National Center for Neurosurgery will also contribute to the development of medical tourism in Kazakhstan.

"Increasing the availability and efficiency of the healthcare system is one of the key development priorities of our country. Within the framework of the developed national project "Healthy Nation", a set of measures will be taken to further modernize the healthcare infrastructure and improve social support for medical workers," Mamin said, congratulating Kazakhstani doctors with the upcoming professional holiday.

Deputy Prime Minister Yeraly Tugzhanov, Minister of Health Alexei Tsoi and akim of Nur-Sultan Altay Kulginov also visited the National Center for Neurosurgery.
